Lieutenant General Ken Minihan is a Managing Director at Paladin Capital Group He retired from the U.S. Air Force on June 1, 1999, after more than 33 years of active commissioned service to the nation. On his final tour of duty he served as the 14th Director of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service, a combat support agency of the Department of Defense with military and civilian personnel stationed worldwide. As Director, he was the senior uniformed intelligence officer in the Department of Defense. He has also served as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He has over thirty years’ experience in national, defense and military information services, information technology development and diverse customer support services.

Lieutenant General Ken Minihan has vast experience in large complex global and national information operations, information technology deployment, and customer requirement satisfaction. While the Director of NSA, he helped conceive and provide strategic direction to the National Information Assurance Program. He also created strategic approaches and development concepts for emerging telecommunications technology while redesigning core business skills and efficient operations. He has the unique ability to integrate complex programs and business operations allowing the organization to focus on cost and schedule goals.

Melissa Hathaway, President of Hathaway Global Securities, LLC, brings a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional perspective to strategic consulting and strategy formulation for public and private sector clients. Over the past two years, she has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Terremark Worldwide Inc., a NASDAQ listed company that was acquired by Verizon Communications in March 2011; a strategic advisor to NetWitness Corporation, which was acquired by EMC Corporation in April 2011; a member of the Board of Directors of EastWest Institute; a member of the Council of Experts at the Global Cyber Security Center in Italy; a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Advanced Cyber Security Center in Boston, Massachusetts; and a member of the Intelligence Advisory Board for Sandia National Laboratory.  In addition, she has served as a strategic advisor to a number of companies, including, Cisco Systems Inc., ManTech International Corporation, Guidance Software Inc., and Core Security Technologies. In the government sector, Ms. Hathaway provides strategic advice to the U.S. Government and Interpol, as well as numerous governments around the world as they develop and refine their national strategies for cybersecurity.

General Zinni is Chairman of the Board of BAE Systems, Inc. He has served as the Executive Vice President of an international government services company and as President of International Operations for a manufacturing company. He has held positions on several boards of directors and advisors of major companies in the fields of government services, manufacturing, telecommunications, electronics, hospitality and hotels, defense industries, software development, financial services, shipbuilding, mining, and capital investment. He has also had his own consulting business working with companies in strategic planning, business development, international marketing, customer relations, communications, and leadership.

 He joined the Marine Corps' Platoon Leader Class program in 1961 and was commissioned an infantry second lieutenant in 1965 upon graduation from Villanova University. General Zinni held numerous command and staff assignments that included platoon, company, battalion, regimental, Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Marine Expeditionary Force command. His staff assignments included service in operations, training, special operations, counter-terrorism, and manpower billets. He has been a tactics and operations instructor at several Marine Corps schools and was selected as a fellow on the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group.  His last assignment before retirement was as Command General, US Central Command.

Dr. Ann Cavoukian is recognized as one of the leading privacy experts in the world. An avowed believer in the role that technology can play in protecting privacy, Dr. Cavoukian’s leadership has seen her office develop a number of tools and procedures to ensure that privacy is protected in Ontario – and around the world. Businesses across North America and Europe regularly seek Dr. Cavoukian’s advice and guidance on privacy and data protection issues. She has been involved in a number of international committees focused on privacy, technology and business. Her ground-breaking 1995 paper with the Netherlands, on advancing privacy protection through the pursuit of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), is now part of the industry lexicon. Dr. Cavoukian is perhaps best known for her mantra of “Privacy By Design.”

Dr. Cavoukian is Ontario's first Information and Privacy Commissioner to be re-appointed for an unprecedented third term. Initially appointed in 1997, her role in overseeing the operations of the freedom of information and privacy laws in Canada’s most populous province has been extended to 2014. Like the Auditor General, she serves as an Officer of the Legislature, independent of the government of the day.

Dr. Aviel D. Rubin is Professor of Computer Science and Technical Director of the Information Security Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Rubin was a research scientist at AT&T Labs. He is also co-founder and President of Harbor Labs. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, Associate Editor of Communications of the ACM (CACM), and an Advisory Board member of Springer's Information Security and Cryptography Book Series. In January, 2004 Baltimore Magazine name Rubin a Baltimorean of the Year for his work in safeguarding the integrity of our election process, and he is also the recipient of the 2004 Electronic Frontiers Foundation Pioneer Award. Dr. Rubin received a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award in 2010-2011

Samuel B. Eckert Professor of Computer Science

Fred B. Schneider is Samuel B. Eckert Professor of Computer Science at Cornell University. He joined Cornell's faculty in Fall 1978, having completed a Ph.D. at Stony Brook University and a B.S. in Engineering at Cornell in 1975. Schneider currently also serves as the Chief Scientist for the NSF-funded TRUST Science and Technology Center, which brings together researchers at U.C. Berkeley, Carnegie-Mellon University, Cornell University, Stanford University, and Vanderbilt University.

Schneider was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1992), the Association of Computing Machinery (1995), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (2008). He was named Professor-at-Large at the University of Tromso (Norway) in 1996 and was awarded a Doctor of Science honoris causa by the University of NewCastle-upon-Tyne in 2003 for his work in computer dependability and security. He received the 2012 IEEE Emanuel R. Piore Award for "contributions to trustworthy computing through novel approaches to security, fault-tolerance and formal methods for concurrent and distributed systems". The U.S. National Academy of Engineering elected Schneider to membership in 2011, and the Norges Tekniske Vitenskapsakademi (Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences) named him a foreign member in 2010.

Bob Edmonds is the Vice President, Domestic Programs, Government Relations and the senior executive for Air Force programs at ITT Defense & Information Solutions.  Working with government relations and business development staffs, he helps the four major value centers--Electronic Systems, Mission Systems, Information Systems, and Geospatial Systems—meet and exceed customer requirements in order to accomplish their missions.  He joined ITT from Syndetics, a management consulting firm specializing in strategy, capture, and proposal management in the government aerospace & defense sector.  Previously, he was a senior member of Aerospace, Defense, and Aviation practice at Heidrick & Struggles International, a global executive recruiting and leadership consulting company. 

Edmonds enjoyed a successful career in the United States Air Force, culminating with the rank of Brigadier General.  He is a command pilot with over 2500 flight hours and 300 combat hours, having led 42 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm.  During his career, Edmonds commanded at the F-15 flight, squadron, and wing level and also served in multiple senior operations and policy positions in the Pentagon.  In addition, he has worked in the White House as a White House Fellow and on Capitol Hill.  He led the Air Force’s Senate Liaison office in the Russell Building on Capitol Hill during a momentous period of congressional history after September 11th, 2001 and handled Air Force congressional affairs with both the House and the Senate as the Deputy Director for Legislative Liaison

Louis A. Beecherl Jr. I Distinguished Professor

Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham is the Louis A. Beecherl, Jr. I Distinguished Professor in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and the  Director of the Cyber Security Research Center since October 2004. She is an elected Fellow of three prestigious organizations: the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2002), the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science, 2003) and the BCS (British Computer Society, 2005). She is the recipient of numerous awards including (i) the IEEE Computer Society's 1997 Technical Achievement Award for “outstanding and innovative contributions to secure data management”, (ii) the 2010 Research Leadership Award for “Outstanding and Sustained Leadership Contributions to the Field of Intelligence and Security Informatics” presented jointly by the IEEE Intelligent and Transportation Systems Society Technical Committee on Intelligence and Security Informatics in Transportation Systems and the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society Technical Committee on Homeland Security, (iii) the 2010 ACM SIGSAC (Association for Computing Machinery, Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control) Outstanding Contributions Award for “seminal research contributions and leadership in data and applications security for over 25 years” and (iv) the 2011 Medal of Merit from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.

Chris Hoff has 20 years of experience in high-profile global roles in network and information security architecture, engineering, operations, product management and marketing with a passion for virtualization and all things Cloud.  Hoff is currently a Sr. Director and Security Architect at Juniper Networks.  Prior to that he was Director of Cloud & Virtualization Solutions of the Security Technology Business Unit at Cisco Systems where he focused on virtualization and cloud computing security, spending most of his time interacting with global enterprises and service providers, governments, and the defense and intelligence communities.

Previously, he was Unisys Corporation’s Chief Security Architect, served as Crossbeam Systems’ chief security strategist, was the CISO and director of enterprise security at a $25 billion financial services company and was founder/CTO of a national security consultancy amongst other startup endeavors.

Reihaneh (Rei) Safavi-Naini is the AITF (formerly, iCORE) Chair in Information Security at the University of Calgary, Canada. Before joining University of Calgary in 2007, she was a Professor of Computer Science and the Director of Telecommunication and Information Technology Research Institute (TITR) and Centre for Information Security at the University of Wollongong, Australia. She has served on the program committees of major conferences in cryptology and information security including CRYPTO, EUROCRYPT, ASIACRYPT, Security & Privacy and ACM CCS, and has worked on numerous industry collaborative research projects.  She is Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Information and System Security and IEEE Transaction on Information Theory. Currently, she is co-Director of Institute for Security, Privacy and Information Assurance (ISPIA) at Director of iCORE Information Security Lab at the University of Calgary.

Riley Repko is committed to building the ‘knowledge-bridge’ between the innovator and the requirement. He has a long history of working with innovative small and medium sized companies leveraging his know-how to drive new business. A constant and responsive connector, he is most comfortable strategizing with key industry decision-makers at the highest levels of government, between leading-edge cyber solution providers, venture capitalists, and the R&D community found within both the public and private-sectors. Today, Riley serves as the Senior Fellow in Cyber Security for Virginia Tech, and as an affiliated faculty member with the Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology.

Before joining Virginia Tech, Mr. Repko served as the senior advisor for cyber operations and transformation for the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. He was responsible for leveraging existing cyber programs and policies and developing new transformational strategies paramount to supporting priorities in air, space and cyber operations. He served as a functional expert collaborating with the Department of Defense, federal government organizations, and private industry on how to effectively integrate cyber capabilities with current operational forces within the Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy.

Dr. Upton has been an Executive-in-Residence working with General Catalyst Partners LLC, a $1.6B venture capital and private equity firm, based in Cambridge, MA. With General Catalyst, he is responsible for identifying and pursuing investments in small to mid-sized firms specializing in cybersecurity and biosecurity, working with General Catalyst’s Growth Equity team.

Prior to joining General Catalyst, Dr. Upton was an Executive Vice President for healthcare informatics and intelligence with BBN Technologies (acquired by Raytheon in 2009). He was also a Senior Vice-President for business development and intelligence with ALPHATECH, Inc., where he helped to drive the growth of this high technology firm from $25M to over $100M in a period of 4½ years. ALPHATECH’s growth led to its successful acquisition by BAE Systems in 2004.

Rear Admiral-retired Chris Weaver is an independent consultant and advisor with an extensive background in defense installation infrastructure management; physical security; strategic organizational change; environmental compliance; and information technology streamlining.  In March 2006, Rear Admiral Weaver completed a 35 year Navy career, retiring from command of the US Navy’s installations and bases worldwide.  Since retiring from active service, he has enjoyed success as a private consultant in a wide range of business areas including organizational change, the environment, defense and private industrial infrastructure development and security, infrastructure management, and integrated coastal security systems and processes.

On active duty, Rear Admiral Weaver achieved a reputation as an expert in the innovative management of the Navy’s global shore-based infrastructure, and led efforts on behalf of Office of the Secretary of Defense to achieve transformation of all DoD Service components’ base management processes and organizations.  His broad and varied career background, his education and experience in public administration, defense business operations, post-9/11 security, and strategic defense logistics and support processes have made him a sought-after advisor in both public and private sectors.

Steve Collignon, an IT professional at Cardinal Health, provides an International perspective on healthcare, supply chain and information technology business solutions. His focus in on improving the overall quality of IT solutions and providing the right balance of IT risk and security.

Steve is currently responsible for two functions in IT at Cardinal Health. The first is providing direction and clarity in security, regulatory and policy issues and their impact on IT as Chief Information Security Officer. This role includes the management, interpretation, design, and compliancy tracking for the business risk directives. The other is leading the solution testing function Center of Excellence.  His team verifies and validates that IT solutions meet customer requirements and are reliable for deployment into production. This is completed through defect identification, tracking, and performance testing.
