Executive Team
Dan Burns
Accuvant Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Being able to provide clear insight into navigating the complex information security landscape is not just a priority for Dan Burns, who oversees the global sales team. It’s what sets the company apart from its competitors. Dan’s sales philosophy is to focus on building long-term relationships with clients, working with them to simplify their lives and become a trusted information security partner rather than a reseller or outside consultant. Needless to say, Dan has been successful and his efforts have greatly contributed to the company's 70x growth since 2002. Prior to co-founding Accuvant, Dan was a Regional VP of Sales for OneSecure (acquired by Netscreen), Regional VP of Sales for Exault (acquired by VeriSign) and a Sales Leader for several other security companies.
“Thousands of threats and vulnerabilities, dozens of regulations and standards and hundreds of technologies make the information security landscape complex, convoluted and fragmented. Accuvant simplifies and demystifies that process for our clients.”
Scott Walker
Accuvant Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning
Responsible for the strategic direction of the company, Scott Walker makes sure Accuvant employees are empowered with the right tools, information and infrastructure to assist and be responsive to clients. He works with the rest of the executive team to coordinate a long-term strategy for the business, including evaluating acquisitions, targeting new markets and ensuring the company’s offerings align to client security needs. Prior to Accuvant, Scott held management positions with Internet Security Systems, Netrex Secure Solutions and Accenture.
“We need to make sure our consultants walk in the door with everything they need to deliver high-quality information security services and solutions.”
Dan Wilson
Accuvant Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Partner Alliances
In his 20 plus years in the technology industry, Dan Wilson has had an opportunity to work with hundreds of manufacturers, resellers, distributors and clients. This breadth of experience lets Dan understand how best to leverage Accuvant and its partners’ expertise on behalf of clients. His background also enables Dan to identify and evaluate new technologies and solutions that align well with Accuvant’s services and meet the needs of customers. Previously, Dan held positions at Access Graphics (GE Access), Netrex Secure Solutions, Exault and VeriSign.
“It’s fascinating to me how rapidly the information security industry changes. Our clients’ challenges today are far different from even just one year ago. My job is to embrace that dynamism and to work to stay ahead of the curve for our customers.”
Tim Hoffman
Senior Vice President North America Sales
Tim Hoffman meets two types of clients: some are overwhelmed by security challenges and others are stimulated. It’s his job to make sure both types are focused enough to be able to navigate through the complex and arduous process of implementing a robust and reliable information security strategy. Tim runs a large team of highly-experienced and highly-motivated Accuvant account managers and systems engineers in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to leading his team at Accuvant, Tim held sales positions with Blue Coat Systems and Calence.
“We continue to hire seasoned teams that possess an entrepreneurial spirit combined with a passion for security. We genuinely enjoy helping clients actualize their business objectives while meeting their security requirements.”
James C. Foster
Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development
James C. Foster is passionate about protecting the United States, her allies, corporations and citizens from all cyber threats both foreign and domestic. A well-known industry expert, recognized speaker and best-selling author, in 2009 and 2010 Foster testified in front of Congress about the increase in international cyber threats. His role at Accuvant is to work with the company’s executive team, clients and partners to define the corporate strategy for helping them solve large-scale security business challenges. Foster joined Accuvant with the successful acquisition of Ciphent in September 2010, where he was the company’s CEO and founder. He’s also held key management positions at Foundstone, Guardent, Information Security Magazine, Booz Allen Hamilton, Computer Sciences Corporation and the Department of Defense.
“We are focused on driving awareness throughout the industry to ensure that every end user and system is protected today and going forward.”

Andrew has also held key positions with Ernst & Young, NASA, i2 Technologies and Corning and graduated summa cum-laude from Virginia Tech University.
